Pokerstars, the world’s biggest poker site, announced last week that they have opened up a live poker room in Italy. The poker room is located in the north of Italy, more exactly at Saint-Vincent at Casino de la Vallée, which is a part of the leisure destination, Saint-Vincent Resort and Casino.

Saint-Vincent is located in in the alpine mountains, close to both the French and the Swizz border, with international airports of Turin and Milan Malpensa located close by.

The poker room was kicked off with manners, as Pokerstars hosted a small tournament with 775 entrants who created a €225,525 prize pool. The tournament was won by Swizz player Jean Marc Bellini who took home €42,000 after making a deal.

Pokerstars opened the room to provide Italians and Europeans with a place to play great poker year-round, with the staff being selected and trained by their Italian Poker Tour services company. The dealers have the same standards as those in the EPT, just permanently in Northern Italy.

“The new PokerStars LIVE room in Saint-Vincent aims to become a must-go place for Italy’s poker lover. We’re excited to bring the best of PokerStars’ live poker experience to Northern Italy, and to give players the opportunity to play in a well-run, trusted and high quality new card room,” said Team PokerStars Pro, Luca Pagano.

“PokerStars LIVE in Saint-Vincent represents the most visible sign of a significant partnership between PokerStars and the Casino de la Vallée. Two Italian Poker Tour events are already scheduled in this season; regular tournaments are available on a weekly basis, and plenty of cash game action too,” said Marco Trucco, PokerStars Italian Country Manager.

The new room in Italy is the fourth on the global scale for Pokerstars, with the others being in Macau, London and Manila.
