Koray Aldemir won the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, taking home the $8 million prize. The German beat American George Holmes at the final table in the No-limit Hold’em World Championship in the 223rd hand with a two-pair of 10s and 7s, besting Holmes’ pair of Kings. Overcoming the 6,650 participants from around the world, Aldemir won his first-ever Main Event victory and took home the highly coveted Main Event bracelet, a 10k yellow and white gold bracelet encrusted with 2,230 rubies, white and black diamonds.

Aldemir commented on his 2021 Main Event win and said:

“It felt great. It’s the biggest final table in the world, so it’s a dream come true. Probably every poker player thinks about this moment when they watch this, believing ‘maybe I could be there one day’.”

Aldemir, a High Stakes Poker Pro is obviously no stranger to the poker world and first came onto the professional poker scene in 2012 and, up until today’s $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event win, already had over $12,000,000 in lifetime earnings.

World Series of Poker Senior Vice President, Ty Stewart, commented on the success of this year’s Main Event, which exceeded expectations and said:

“This year’s Main Event has exceeded expectations across the board. To see five countries represented at the 2021 Final Table was amazing, and after a classic battle, we’re looking forward to raising Koray’s banner this summer at Bally’s on the Strip.”
