Caesars Entertainment has placed a $1 million bid on one of four gaming licenses that is up for grabs in the state of New York, planning to build a $750 million casino near Manhattan. Caesars Entertainment has become increasingly interested in the area after finding out that other Las Vegas casinos are staying away from the big apple.
Caesars has posted their bid and with a deadline this Wednesday and should they be successful in obtaining a license, they can look forward to operating 40 casinos in the US. While no other Las Vegas casino has placed a bid so far, there is still some speculation that others may bid in as well, after finding out Caesars are interested.
The four new gaming licenses came up for grabs after a constitutional amendment were approved by voters in November, where Governor Andrew Cuomo had pushed through the legislation. Cuomo pushed for the legislation last year, but didn’t find support from Nevada, as the executives there found the legislation to be bad due to no new casinos being allowed to be build.
15 casinos have applied for the gaming license so far, but with only four to give away it will be a tuff race to actually obtain one of the wanted licenses.
