Michigan iGaming Breaks Record While Sportsbooks Ride March Madness Lift

Michigan online gambling had a strong March, but online casino carried most of the month. Sports betting improved from February thanks to March Madness, while iGaming set a fresh state revenue record.

Online Casino Drives Michigan Gambling Revenue

Michigan iGaming outpaced sports betting by a wide margin in March. The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported $322.1 million in online casino gross receipts, passing the previous $315.8 million record from December 2025.

Adjusted gross receipts from iGaming rose 17.9% from February and 25.6% from March 2025. When sports betting and iGaming were combined, Michigan operators produced $341.8 million in AGR.

Tax payments followed the same pattern. Operators paid $66.4 million to Michigan, with online casino accounting for $64.1 million. Detroit also received $16.1 million in gaming tax payments.

Sportsbooks still had a better month than February. Michigan online sports betting handle reached $485.1 million, up more than $100 million from the post NFL February total. March Madness helped bring bettors back, although March still ranked as the second-lowest monthly handle since August 2025.

Sports betting gross receipts reached $50 million, while AGR came in at $32.7 million. That was up 123.9% from March 2025. However, the hold rate barely changed, rising to 6.7% from 6.6% in February. January had been stronger at 7.5%.

Michigan collected $2.3 million in state taxes from online sports betting. City wagering taxes and municipal service fees added another $684,500.

FanDuel Holds Lead As Fanatics Posts Fast Growth

FanDuel remained the top Michigan sportsbook with $162.2 million in handle and $13.7 million in AGR. Its lead stayed clear, but the year-over-year numbers fell, with handle down 9.4% and AGR down 21.7%.

DraftKings followed with $135.8 million in wagers, up 6.1% from last year. AGR slipped 7.2% to $9 million. BetMGM ranked third at $58.5 million in handle and $3.2 million in AGR, both lower than March 2025.

Fanatics had the strongest growth among the major online operators. Handle rose 36.7% to $52.5 million, while AGR climbed 70.7% to $2.5 million.

Caesars also improved with $25 million in handle and $1.5 million in AGR. TheScore Bet had $19 million in handle and $1.3 million in AGR, both down from last year.
