The Gambling Advertising Board will now forward cases to the Consumer Ombudsman or the Gambling Authority if companies ignore the board's criticism or breach regulatory rules. Conversely, the Consumer Ombudsman and the Gambling Authority will guide complainants to the Gambling Advertising Board when a company's actions violate the industry's code of conduct but not specific regulatory rules. Roles and Responsibilities The Consumer Ombudsman oversees compliance with the Marketing Act and other consumer protection laws. The Gambling Authority ensures adherence to section 36, subsection 1, of the Gambling Act, as well as rules on sales promotions in gaming announcements. The Gambling Advertising Board, created by industry players, addresses complaints about marketing practices that breach the industry's code of conduct, focusing on protecting vulnerable groups and reducing gambling addiction. To maintain this coordination, the Consumer Ombudsman, the Gambling Authority, and the Gambling Advertising Board will regularly exchange information on relevant cases and hold annual meetings. "Our new cooperation agreement with the Gambling Authority and the Gambling Advertising Board strengthens our supervision of gambling companies' marketing," stressed Consumer Ombudsman Torben Jensen, underscoring the significance of this agreement. Better internal communication, coordination, and the avoidance of task duplication are all benefits of the agreement for customers."
