The Netherlands Gambling Authority issued a formal warning to 711 BV after determining that the operator promoted online gambling through an influencer. The authority stated that such activity falls under the nationwide ban on role models in gambling advertising, a rule designed to protect young audiences and people at risk from exposure to persuasive marketing. Good to Know Dutch regulations prohibit online gambling ads that feature influencers, athletes, actors, or other public figures. 711 BV must remove all content in which the influencer appears, including any promotional videos. The regulator also stopped 711 BV from entering players into tournaments automatically without proper consent. The role model ban in the Netherlands applies to all licensed operators and includes a broad list of public figures, from actors and professional athletes to models and social media personalities. After reviewing recent promotional activity, the authority instructed 711 BV to remove every instance in which the influencer appeared and to ensure the content can no longer be accessed. The operator confirmed that the collaboration has ended and that all related material is being taken down. The regulator highlighted that operators must exercise caution when selecting individuals for promotional work, especially given the intent of Dutch rules to reduce the exposure of vulnerable groups to gambling advertising. The authority underlined that the involvement of influencers can create a strong pull for younger audiences, which is why the rule exists. The warning also addressed a second compliance issue. The authority found that 711 BV ran tournaments in which players were automatically added to competitions without giving explicit agreement to the bonus conditions. Regulators noted that this type of practice may encourage gaming behaviour that is not appropriate or safe. The operator confirmed that the practice has been halted.
