Steffen Sontheimer Grabs The Inaugural Poker Masters Purple Jacket

Steffen Sontheimer, German poker pro, has won the first ever Poker Masters Event. Sontheimer made cash winnings in four of his five tournaments made of unique series and won two titles along the way. His total winnings during the entire week in the tournaments totalled $2,733,000. The player with the highest win was awarded the first ever Poker Masters purple jacket.

The event held in Aria, Las Vegas included four $50,000 buy-in-no-limit hold’em tournaments and an ending $100,000 buy-in main event. The first event started on September 13. Sontheimer finished fourth in the first event out of 51 entries, winning $204,000.

The second event saw Sontheimer as the winner, taking away $900,000 from a field of 50 entries. He defeated a fellow German poker pro, Fedor Holz, to claim the title in the main event. The third event was the only event where Sontheimer could not cash in.

Brandon Adams came out victorious in the fourth $50,000 buy-in event, with Sontheimer cashing $117,00 in the fifth position.

The final event started with 36 entries, with only top six players to make money. Fedor Holz was the chip leader, at the final table, with Sontheimer taking up the third position. Christian Christner showed Holz out in third place with $504,000 in winnings. Sontheimer had secured the Poker Master Purple Jacket by outlasting Holz. He finally took the lead and defeated Christner, who won $864,000 as the runner-up.
