The annual Black Hills Home Builders Association event has turned into a traditional fundraising effort in Rapid City, targeted at assisting vulnerable community members. So far, the initiative has a successful track record, with more than $11,000 collected at participating bars last year.
The fifth edition of the Poker Pub Crawl took place on Satuday and fundraised for Jordyn Bruski, an 11-year-old suffering from leukemia, and Mark Schuh, owner of Rapid Pro Painting, who is paralyzed after suffering an injury on a job site. 5 venues were included in the event which kicked off at Paddy O’Neill’s and concluded with a $19,000 auction at the Rapid City VFW.
The people behind the local Poker Pub Crawl take pride in making a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries. Darin Howie, chair of the organization, hopes this year’s proceeds will be tangible financial support towards Jordyn and Mark’s travel and overall medical expenses.
