Belgium's Christophe outplayed 438 entrants for winning the 2018 Unibet Poker Belgian Championship €550 Main Event at Casino Blankenberge for €42,020.
De Meulder passed $400,000 in live tournament cashes to go along with almost $1.5 million in online cashes.
Unibet Open Blog stated that De Meulder kicked off the nine-max final table with a huge chip lead.
The Belgian players held seven seats at the final table with players from France seated in the other two. Belgium outclassed Fabrice Halleuc at the final table who got eliminated in the ninth place for $4,657. He three-bet jammed seven big blinds with pocket deuces and he didn't win the flip against the king-eight suited held by France's Dominique Potenza after a king came out in the flop.
Werner Schroons hit the rail in eighth place for $5,812. Shroons again open-jammed 13 big blinds with king-jack and he didn't improve his hand after Samir Akhoullou called in with ace-queen suited.
Belgium's Jonas Van Baelan was the next to get eliminated. On the final hand, De Meulder jammed pocket sixes and Akhoullou called with his short stack with eight-four suited.
The two-seven-five flop helped Akhoullou a straight draw which was completed after a six appeared on the turn.
The six gave De Meulder a direct lead. Akhoullou did not walk away empty handed and he collected the runner up prize.
