Viatcheslav Ortynskiy wins $3,000 six-handed Pot-Limit Omaha for $344,327

The 30^th event of the 2016 World Series of Poker saw 580 players buy-in for $3,000 in the six-handed Pot-Limit Omaha event, of whom 14 could return on day 3, all chasing that coveted bracelet. In the end, it was Russian Viatcheslav Ortynskiy who drew the longest straw.

After 2 hours of play, the tables were fused. The unofficial final table of seven started with the following chipcounts.

Holding a nice chiplead, things looked good for Ortynskiy. After Nieminen couldn’t win a flip and finished in seventh place, things started to go pretty fast. Within a couple of hands, Joshua Gibson (sixth for $46,727) and George Wolff (fifth for $66,134) were eliminated.

With four players left, Ortynskiy took control, winning a lot of hands. Matthew Humphrey was eliminated by Randy Ohel with against , taking home $95,623. Ohel couldn’t make it to the heads-up though, all his chips went in the middle with against Ortynskiy’s , the board ran out and Ohel could collect his $141,187. Not bad for a tournament with just a $3,000 buy-in.

Ortynskiy started the heads-up play with a 5:1 chipadvantage over Rafael Lebron, and never gave that away. In the final hand, Ortynskiy limped the button with and called Lebron’s raise, who held . Lebron got his remaining chips in the middle on a flop, and after the on the turn and on the river, Lebron’s straight wasn’t good enough as Ortynskiy rivered a full house.
