Sweden’s Sebastian Sorensson Grabs The 2017 Pokerstars Championship Barcelona €5,300 Buy-In Main Event Title

Sebastian Sorensson, a semi-professional poker player from Sweden, has won the 2017 PokerStars Championship Barcelona €5,300 buy-in Main Event earning €987,043 (USD 1,176,901). The 27-year-old participated in €7 million guaranteed no-limit hold’em main event to compete with 1,682 other entrants.

Sorensson who is a warehouse worker played poker for leisure and got a seat on PokerStars for $200 in the event through the online qualifier. The game was Sorensson’s second time ever play in a live poker tournament. He went on to claim his first ever title PSC Barcelona main event along with the top prize.

Sorenson admitted he was intimidated seeing such a huge pool of player, ““When I arrived here and saw over a thousand people on the first day, I felt so intimidated.” The player doesn’t intend to continue working in a warehouse.

Raffaele Sorrentino came out as the chip leader on the final day with six players remaining. After railing out the other players and last three players remaining, Sorensson decided to make a deal. All the three players Sorensson, Sorrentino and Lachezar Petkov agreed to pay for the title with the extra €100,000 left on the table, the remaining prize money was as follows:
