Nick Petrangelo wins EPT Barcelona High Roller for €413,000

The European Poker Tour Barcelona is running until August 28^th, with a lot of prestigious titles to grab. A total of 240 players entered this year’s High Roller, and Nick Petrangelo turned out the strongest, defeating Polish Marcin Chmielewski heads-up.

The start of the final table had the following line-up:

Yaroshevskyy was the first to bust, he couldn’t run his short stack up and earned €45,630 for his efforts. Other shortstack Yang Zhang was next, he collected €57,270 for his run. Shortly after, Del Piero ran his pocket 9’s into Kuo’s rockets and he finished in seventh for €75,900. This was the furthest she would go, since her Q’s couldn’t find improvement against Korenev’s K’s a couple of hands later.

Plesuv (fifth, €134,100) and Korenev (fourth, €173,670) were the next players to leave the final table, and play resumed three-handed. After four long hours, Koplimaa found his Waterloo when his ace-seven couldn’t win against Chmielewski’s ace-jack, Koplimaa earned €220,230 for his third-place finish.

Petrangelo started the heads-up with a huge chip-disadvantage, but managed to double up four times to take the chiplead. Shortly after Chmielewski had all his chips in the middle with pocket 5’s against Petrangelo’s king-jack, and a jack on the flop sealed the deal and gave Petrangelo the title and €413,000.
