Magnus Edengren, a Swedish poker player, has clinched the title in the $1,500 mixed Omaha eight-or-better event at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP), overcoming 853 competitors. Winning his first WSOP bracelet he took home a price of $196,970.

Phil Hellmuth, the all-time leader in WSOP bracelets, reached the final four but finished in fourth place. Hellmuth was aiming for his 18th WSOP victory, after getting his 17th last year,  but fell short. Edengren ended Hellmuth’s run, winning the final hand in a tournament that rotated through limit Omaha eight-or-better, pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better, and Big O (five-card pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better).

This victory marked Edengren’s biggest live tournament win, far surpassing his previous high of $28,891, which he earned for finishing 12th in the $10,000 pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better championship just a week earlier. In the interim, he also cashed in the inaugural $10,000 Big O championship.
