Kory Kilpatrick Wins WSOP Event #20 $3,000 NL Hold’em Shootout

The World Series of Poker Event #20, $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout, has just finished and it was American Kory Kilpatrick who could call himself the winner, take home the bracelet and a first prize of $254,891. Kilpatrick played three days of solid poker before reaching the final table and beat 389 to win the title.

The medium sized buy-in combined with the high attendance created a of a little over $1 million, ensuring that the first place prize would be quite good money. The final table also saw a poker legend in the form of Phil Galfond, who unfortunately for him busted out in 6th place.

The final hand of the day came after one and a half hours heads up play between Eric Wasserson and Kory Kilpatrick. Wasserson was at this point down to around 30 big blinds while Kilpatrick had around 85 big blinds at blinds level 15,000/30,000 and ante of 5,000.

In the last hand Wasserson clicked to 60,000 pre-flop only to find himself being 3-bet by Kilpatrick to 175,000. After thinking for a while, Wasserson decides to move all-in for his last chips, getting almost a snap-call from Kilpatrick.

The board comes out  and there’s no help for Wasserson, who has to see himself finish in second place for $157,490, while Kilpatrick could celebrate winning his first bracelet and the massive first prize of $254,891. The remaining final table payouts you can see below:
