Big Shots Holds Poker Run Fundraiser in Support of March of Dimes

Share

The first charity activity organized by the Big Shots bar and pool hall for 2017 took place last Sunday. It was a poker run event that gave away its proceeds to March of Dimes, an initiative supporting mothers and their babies as part of a wider campaign to combat premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

The event comprised a benefit ride involving 40 bikers who chose a card at Big Shots, rode to three different venues and then came back to the bar to pick up their final card. The winner was the one who had the best hand.

Entry to the event was set at $10.

Kim Bigham, owner of Big Shots, commented that the fundraisers are intentionally kept small for stronger local impact.

Jean Warren, manager of the local Famous Footwear store, helped carry out the poker run. Warren is a sponsor for March of Dimes and is glad the money remains in St. Joseph.
