The British bingo and casino operator Rank have just announced that they have appointed iGaming specialist Henry Birch as its new CEO. Birch will take over the place from Ian Burke, who will move into the role of non-executive chairman. These changes are set to take place on may 6th and it is hoped that it will boost the revenues of the company.
Birch is well known in the iGaming industry ad he was the CEO of William Hill online, which is one of the leading online bookmakers in the world. He was in the position for a total of four years and left the job in October of 2012, seeking new opportunities.
Rank reported a massive 23% decrease in first half profits in January, due to a decreasing amount of players in its bingo halls. Birch has been put in the CEO position to try and turn those numbers around and ensure that Rank moves back to where it belongs. Rank is also planning on opening three new bingo halls in the UK after taxes were decreased on the game.
“With his track record in the online betting and gaming sector, the Rank board believes that Henry is well-equipped to lead Rank’s continued exploitation of growth opportunities in the gaming and leisure markets,” A Rank spokesperson told to the press.
