Share

The most recent data on mobile sports betting in March 2024 was released by the New York State Gaming Commission. With gross gaming revenue (GGR) from mobile sports betting of $151.7 million, the month’s total handle amounted to a healthy $1.85 billion.

When the present numbers are compared to those from March 2023, the handle increased by 3.4%, while the GGR slightly decreased by 6.8%. In addition, net revenue allotted to education fell from $83 million to $76.3 million, an 8.1% annual decline.

Fluctuations in Monthly Performance

Following a milestone achievement of surpassing $2 billion in monthly handle in October, subsequent months have witnessed fluctuations in GGR. March 2024, however, saw a notable uptick of 15.4% in GGR compared to February’s figures, which stood at $131.4 million.

When the March numbers were broken down by operator, FanDuel came out on top as the state’s largest GGR provider, contributing $73.1 million, or 48.2% of the overall GGR. In close pursuit of the lead, DraftKings produced a monthly GGR of $48.8 million, or 32.2% of the state total.

Fanatics Sportsbook, a relatively newcomer to the New York industry, made a big impression by surpassing GGR of more seasoned competitors like Wynn, Bally’s, and Rush Street Interactive. The quick growth of Fanatics in several states—including Arizona, Kansas, and Connecticut—reflects the company’s increasing clout in the sports betting market.

Its large handle of $781.2 million, or 42.2% of the state’s total, further demonstrated FanDuel’s supremacy in the industry. Taking up 33.1% of the state’s total handle, DraftKings came in second place with a handle of $612.2 million.

Bally’s and Resorts World Bet came in second and third, with handles of $8.3 million and $8.4 million, respectively, and Wynn recorded the lowest handle of all the state’s operators, at $4.2 million. The different contributions of major companies in the industry are reflected in these numbers, which depict the varied landscape of mobile sports wagering in New York State.
