Nevada Gaming Revenue Dips in July but Downtown Las Vegas Shines

The state’s revenues have decreased, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s (NGCB) July gaming revenue report. Although Nevada’s monthly gaming income has been over $1 billion for over three years, the data for July indicate a decline when compared to the same period in the previous year.

The income generated by the Las Vegas Strip in July was $709.3 million, which represents a 15% down from the $834.9 million collected in July 2023. The state’s overall gaming income was $1.3 billion, a 6.9% decrease or $0.1 million from the nearly $1.4 billion record established in July 2023. This fall on the Strip is indicative of a larger trend across the state.

Additionally, the state collected approximately $95.9 million in percentage fees last month, a slight drop from what was gathered during the same time last year. Despite these declines, Nevada’s gaming industry continues to demonstrate resilience, maintaining strong revenue figures even amid fluctuations.

Downtown Las Vegas Bucks the Trend

While the Las Vegas Strip saw a decrease in revenue, Downtown Las Vegas experienced a significant boost. In July, Downtown Las Vegas reported $71.8 million in gaming revenue, reflecting a 10% increase compared to the same month last year. This growth highlights the area’s continued appeal and its ability to attract visitors even as other parts of the state face challenges.

In other developments, the NGCB issued a cease-and-desist order to Playgon Interactive and its affiliate, Bitrate Productions. The board has directed the company to halt the production of live dealer content from its Las Vegas studio. NGCB Chairman Kirk Hendrick signed the order, stating that “Bitrate is using live dealers in Las Vegas to deal games such as baccarat and roulette and broadcasts the content to online casinos located around the world.”

This regulatory action underscores the board’s commitment to maintaining strict oversight of gaming activities within the state, ensuring compliance with Nevada’s gaming laws.
