Michigan Online Gambling Revenue Rises Nearly 29 Percent in July

Michigan’s online gambling market showed strong momentum in July 2025, with iGaming and mobile sports betting revenue climbing to new highs. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) confirmed the state brought in $284.6 million during the month, up 28.9% compared with the same period last year.

Online casino play continued to dominate Michigan’s market. iGaming gross receipts totaled $250.5 million in July, generating $235.2 million in AGR. That marks a 36.5% annual increase, showing just how central online gaming has become for residents.

Mobile sports betting also grew year-over-year, up 13% to a handle of $282.7 million. However, compared with June 2025, the betting handle slipped 6.6%. Operators reported $34.1 million in gross receipts from online sports wagers, with AGR at $23.9 million, a 38.7% improvement from last year.

Taxes and Payments

Alongside revenue growth came higher tax contributions. State coffers received $50.5 million in July from licensed operators. Detroit’s three commercial casinos paid $12.5 million in wagering taxes and municipal fees. Tribal operators also boosted their contributions, sending $6.1 million to their governing bodies, up 35.6% from the previous year.

Enforcement Against Illegal Operators

While licensed operators expanded, MGCB continued to crack down on unregulated platforms. On August 14, regulators issued cease-and-desist orders to 15 unlicensed online gambling operators. These platforms were found violating the state’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and sections of the Michigan Penal Code.
