According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), the state’s iGaming industry generated $248.2 million in January 2025, setting a new monthly revenue record. In comparison to January 2024, this is a 36.5% increase.

The state made $331.2 million from online sports betting and iGaming, a 44.3% rise from the previous year. This increase took place in spite of a 3.8% drop in Michigan’s monthly total of $555.2 million in online sports betting.

Expanding iGaming and Sports Betting Market

Currently, Michigan has authorized 15 commercial and tribal operators to provide online gaming or sports betting. Of these, 12 offer internet sports betting, while all 15 operate iGaming platforms.

Although iGaming led revenue generation, sports betting also showed significant growth. In January 2025, online sports betting brought in $83 million—up 74% from the previous year. The previous record for monthly iGaming revenue was set in December 2024 when operators reported $244 million in earnings.

The combined adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for iGaming and sports betting reached $287.9 million in January, with iGaming alone increasing by 42% year-over-year. Sports betting AGR also saw a notable rise of more than $35 million compared to January 2024.

The casino industry made a substantial tax revenue contribution to Michigan. The state received $43.7 million in taxes and payments from iGaming companies, and an additional $3.1 million from online sports betting. Tribal operators, meanwhile, reported paying their governing bodies $5 million.

These numbers demonstrate the iGaming industry’s increasing economic impact in Michigan, where it is still rising. Despite variations in sports betting activity, the state continues to rank among the top online gambling markets in the United States, with operators continuously reporting great success.
