Macau collected just over MOP9.07 billion, or about $1.12 billion, in gaming tax revenue in April, according to new figures from the Financial Services Bureau.
The April total came in 2.3% higher than the MOP8.87 billion recorded in March. Through the first four months of 2026, Macau has now collected MOP34.87 billion from gaming taxes, up 16.9% from the same period last year.
Casino taxes continue to carry the public finances of Macau. Gaming taxes made up nearly 86.5% of the MOP40.30 billion in current government revenue recorded through April 30.
Macau applies an effective 40% tax rate on casino gross gaming revenue under the 10-year concession system that began on January 1, 2023. The six casino concessionaires operate under that framework.
Still, the tax numbers do not line up directly with casino GGR for the same calendar period. Tax payments usually reach the government after operators record GGR, so the figures can reflect timing gaps between gaming activity and tax registration.
For 2026, the government expects nearly MOP92.53 billion in gaming tax revenue. The MOP34.87 billion collected in the first four months already represents about 37.9% of that full-year target.
