Louisiana’s casino and racetrack operators closed August 2025 on a strong note. State regulators reported higher year-over-year gaming revenue, with riverboats, racetracks, and the state’s lone land-based casino all showing meaningful activity despite a few dips in individual facilities.

Riverboat casinos delivered the lion’s share of revenue, generating $160.9m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR), a 9.2% increase from the previous year. L’Auberge Lake Charles set the pace with $30m in revenue, up 15.7%. Golden Nugget Lake Charles followed with $27.1m, up 5.6%, while Treasure Chest Casino grew 12.9% to reach $14m.
The numbers were mixed for other operators. L’Auberge Baton Rouge collected $13.5m, a modest 2.5% rise, while Margaritaville Casino reported $12.6m, down 13.3% compared with August 2024.
Caesars New Orleans, Louisiana’s only land-based casino hotel reporting to the LGCB, posted $25.8m in revenue, up 36.6% year over year. The property underwent a $435m transformation from its former Harrah’s identity, with renovations completed in October 2024. The investment appears to be paying off as the New Orleans location continues to draw strong customer interest.
Slots at racetrack facilities added $28.1m in AGR for the month. Delta Downs led the group with $15.6m, up 11.1% year over year. Evangeline Downs also improved, rising 6.7% to $6.6m. Louisiana Downs and Fair Grounds both posted declines, each settling near $3m after year-over-year decreases of 7.4% and 3.1%, respectively.
Across all racetrack slot operations, more than 231,000 wagers were placed during August, reflecting steady engagement even as performance varied between properties.
