The online casino and bingo games provider Gamesys announced today that they will close down their real-money bingo and Slots Friendzy facebook applications iGamingBusiness.com reports. The applications were the first real-money applications of its kind and was launched in 2012, having been in operation for less than two years.
Gamesys send out a communication to their players last week urging them to withdraw any positive balances they may have in their accounts, to ensure that they will be paid since the application will be shut down relatively fast.
Gamesys and its subsidiary JackpotJoy who operated the Facebook applications did not give any reason for the closure of the applications and with no known reports of problems or implications, the reason remains a mystery. The most logical explanation would be that it is not financially stable to continue to run the application, but it is nothing more than a guess at this point.
Real money games on Facebook has not been a big hit amongst users, that mainly prefers to play social games with in-app purchases available. However there are still some real-money applications available in Facebook who continues to operate, such as Paddy Powers betting application.
