Camrose Casino Pursues Edmonton Relocation During Financial Struggles

Share

Despite financial difficulties, Camrose Casino in Alberta, Canada, is proceeding with preparations to move to Edmonton. The goal of Mayfield Investments Ltd., the company that owns and runs Camrose Casino through Camrose Casino Corp., is to move the casino to a new location at 420 Parsons Road. The move was recently approved by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) after the corporation renewed its petition.

An expansive 88,000-square-foot facility with 498 slot machines and 25 table games is described in the revised proposal. This action comes after AGLC rejected a prior relocation attempt the previous year. AGLC gave its approval following public comment, indicating that the project has a bright future.

Financial Troubles and Licensing Sale

In spite of this approval, Mayfield Investments recently went into receivership because of its debts to ATB Financial. With an agreement in place to sell the casino’s gambling license to Capital City Casinos Ltd., the business is still dedicated to its Edmonton aspirations. Capital City Casinos will pay more than $3.9 million to acquire the license as part of the deal. The potential to expand and run the casino after it relocates to Edmonton is offered by this transaction.

The buyer “already paid most of the money,” Mayfield Investments acknowledged, according to CBC News, and the deal is being completed. A major step toward securing the casino’s future under the new management is this sale.

At the moment, Camrose Casino provides a variety of gaming alternatives, including as table games, video lottery terminals (VLTs), and slots. Customers have access to well-known games like Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Classic Blackjack, and Roulette for seven days. With a bigger facility and more amenities for visitors, the proposed move to Edmonton seeks to improve the gaming experience.
