The Prize and Betting Secretariat of Brazil (SPA-MF) and the Financial behavior Control Council (COAF) have provided clarification on how betting companies are to report suspicious behavior. A virtual gathering involved over 190 participants from the legal and compliance departments of fixed-odds betting businesses.
How operators should reveal potential financial crimes, including the spread of WMDs, money laundering, and terrorist financing, was the subject of debate throughout the event. Attendees were given the chance to ask specific questions to ensure they knew the correct procedures for completing reports.
Sports betting generated over $10 million in tax revenue for the state in January. Tennessee remains one of 38 states, along with the District of Columbia, that have legalized and regulated retail sports betting. Additionally, 30 states currently allow mobile sports wagering.
Meanwhile, Indiana also reported its January sports betting figures. According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, the state recorded a total handle of $538.7 million for the month. This represents a $58 million increase compared to January 2024.
Ameristar Casino and Blue Chip Casino led Indiana’s betting market, accounting for over half of the total handle. Ameristar recorded $185.8 million in wagers, while Blue Chip followed closely with $181.1 million.
Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg secured the third spot with a $43 million sports betting handle.
Both Tennessee and Indiana continue to see steady growth in their sports betting markets, reflecting the broader expansion of legalized wagering across the U.S.
