PrizePicks is jumping into the NFL Draft action with a new twist on daily fantasy. Ahead of the draft on April 24, the company rolled out its first-ever free-to-play fantasy game tied to viral moments surrounding the event.
Good to know
The game centers around cultural moments instead of traditional player stats. For example, fans can guess whether Roger Goodell will be booed for more than 10.5 seconds, or how many first-round picks will wear glasses on stage. Participants who hit all three of their picks correctly will share in a $500,000 prize pool of free lineups.
Mike Quigley, Chief Marketing Officer at PrizePicks, explained the reasoning behind the format. “The online conversation that buzzes on draft night is almost as entertaining as the draft itself,” he said. “We are fired up to bring players a game that allows them to engage with those viral moments in a totally new format that hasn’t been done before.”
The promotion adds another layer of entertainment to one of football’s most watched off-field events. Instead of only focusing on mock drafts or team needs, fans can now have fun predicting quirky, offbeat moments that always seem to trend online during the draft.
PrizePicks has also kept busy with brand-building moves. The company recently extended its official DFS partnership with the Atlanta Braves through 2028. That relationship began in 2020 and will now continue for another four seasons.
At the same time, PrizePicks is pushing a new campaign featuring content from popular online creators like Sketch, Lou Young, BookItWithTrent, and BenDaDonnn. These influencers will share draft-related skits and help bring more attention to the new fantasy game.
The company’s credibility also got a boost last month when it received Internet Compliance Assessment Program accreditation from the National Council on Problem Gambling. PrizePicks became the first daily fantasy operator to receive that recognition.
