Betting Hero and NASCAR have unveiled a pioneering research initiative, targeting the betting habits of consumers in North Carolina. The comprehensive study, conducted in April 2024, delved into the preferences of qualified bettors within the state.
A notable finding of the study revealed that bettors in North Carolina exhibited a significant inclination towards NASCAR, with nearly three times the likelihood of betting on the sport compared to other surveyed states. Remarkably, NASCAR ranked fourth in betting activity among respondents, trailing only behind the NFL, NBA, and MLB. A staggering 70% of participants reported watching a race for the first time due to their betting engagement.
“Collaborating with NASCAR has been instrumental in our efforts to introduce fans to diverse betting options. The study reaffirms our belief in the potential to attract and engage both new and existing fans through tailored betting experiences,” remarked Jai Maw, Co-Founder and President of Betting Hero.
Maw highlighted the correlation between fan enjoyment and betting activity, underscoring the need for expanded betting markets and prop options to enhance fan engagement.
The research also unveiled NASCAR’s robust performance in the sports betting arena. Across the 20 states offering sports betting in March and April of 2023, NASCAR witnessed a notable 15% year-over-year growth in betting handle. States such as Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Mississippi experienced a surge of over 50% in NASCAR betting activity compared to the previous year.
In Nevada and New York, NASCAR’s handle doubled year-over-year, reflecting the sport’s growing popularity among bettors.
Joe Solosky, Managing Director of Sports Betting at NASCAR, expressed optimism about NASCAR’s role in enhancing fan engagement through sports betting. Solosky affirmed NASCAR’s commitment to refining the betting experience for fans, offering a myriad of options to responsibly engage with the on-track action.
