Sports betting in Virginia continues to bring in strong numbers, according to the latest report from the Virginia Lottery. From February 1 to February 28, 2025, total gross revenue from sports gaming reached $556.8 million. That’s a 2.2% increase compared to February last year.
Most of the betting activity came from mobile platforms. Fourteen mobile operators accounted for $553 million of the total handle. Meanwhile, Virginia’s three licensed casinos added $3.8 million to the total.
Players won a combined $490 million during the month, which translates to a 12% win rate for operators. After subtracting payouts and other adjustments, the adjusted gross revenue came in at $61.9 million.
Under Virginia law, each licensed operator pays 15% of its adjusted gross revenue in taxes. In February, that tax added up to $9.3 million.
The majority of the tax money goes directly into the state’s General Fund. In this case, $9.1 million will be used to support public services across Virginia. A smaller portion, around $232,599, is set aside for the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund. This fund is managed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and helps provide treatment and resources for those affected by gambling issues.
