Based on information gathered by experts at Truist Securities, Penn Entertainment’s ESPN Bet gaming platform has the potential to become a formidable competitor to DraftKings and FanDuel.
In order to compete with established companies in the sports betting market, Truist highlights ESPN’s status as the app that sports fans use most frequently to check results. 44% of sports fans who responded to the study said they watch ESPN to stay up to current on scores, and 64% said they would like to see more alternatives for betting.
A significant majority of respondents who frequent ESPN and are interested in betting integration indicate a likelihood of adopting ESPN Bet as their primary wagering platform. Truist Managing Director Barry Jonas underscores the importance of Penn delivering a robust technology solution to leverage ESPN’s strong lead generation capabilities.
Although Penn has established a presence in the online sports betting market with Barstool Sportsbook, there are obstacles with its switch to ESPN Bet. Jonas recognizes the challenge of outperforming industry heavyweights DraftKings and FanDuel, which are always changing.
According to Truist’s poll, BetMGM is lagging behind DraftKings and FanDuel as the leaders. Though Jonas doubts BetMGM’s capacity to overtake ESPN Bet and catch up to the top two, the company does have omnichannel potential and distinct advantages in the iGaming space.
Every participant is fighting for a commanding position in the sports betting industry, which is still characterized by fierce rivalry. Technological innovation and efficient execution are critical components of success in this fast-paced sector. These elements will eventually select the winners.
