In a major statement, the Seminole Tribe of Florida confirmed that sports betting would soon be available at many of its South Florida casinos in addition to craps and roulette. This much anticipated expansion is scheduled to occur in early December at many sites.
According to a press statement from the Seminole Tribe, the new gaming options will make their premiere on Thursday, December 7 at three of its South Florida locations: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, and Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. In the meanwhile, on Friday, December 8, at the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa, and on Monday, December 11, at the Seminole Immokalee and Seminole Brighton casinos, these innovative gaming experiences will debut.
This comes after the U.S. Supreme Court made a historic ruling, declining to strike down a $2.5 billion deal that would have allowed sports betting in the state of Florida and benefiting the Seminole Tribe. The agreement that made this possible was approved by the Florida Legislature in May 2021, and Governor Ron DeSantis then signed it into law.
Governor DeSantis has expressed his optimism about the compact, highlighting its potential to bring an estimated $2.5 billion in revenue to Florida over the next five years. He stated, “The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s new initiative will create jobs, increase tourism, and provide billions in added revenue for our state.” The governor also emphasized his pride in working with the Tribe to establish this historic Gaming Compact and looked forward to its full implementation.
The expansion excites Jim Allen, the Chairman of Hard Rock International and CEO of Seminole Gaming, almost as much. He pointed out that the expanded gaming options will generate more than 1,000 additional employment, demonstrating the beneficial economic effects the Compact is anticipated to have on Florida. This accomplishment, according to Allen, is a “historic milestone” that puts Florida among the top gaming destinations in the world.
A significant change in Florida’s gaming environment has occurred with the arrival of sports betting and these well-liked table games at Seminole Tribe casinos. This has created new opportunities for the Tribe and the state as they go into the realm of sports wagering.
