Paddy Power, an Irish gaming company, has revealed its official sponsorship of the 2017 PDC World Darts Championship. Paddy Power promised its patrons a room full of “bleary-eyed revellers, raucous singing, and ill-fitting and even more ill-judged attire” in its trademark tongue-in-cheek flair.
Paddy Power described the sponsorship agreement as a “match made in heaven,” and stated its delight about supporting one of the year’s most anticipated darts events. The competition will begin on December 15 at London’s renowned Alexandra Palace and will conclude on January 3, 2024, with the final.
Paddy Power has cordially invited fans to the event and has urged them to purchase their Paddy Power World Darts Championship tickets in advance. They can secure their place at what the firm promises will be “the best Dartsmas ever.”
Paddy Power published a hilarious video featuring prominent darts players such as Dimitri Van Den Bergh, Gerwyn Price, Michael Smith, Michael Van Gerwen, and Peter Wright to commemorate the sponsorship.
Paddy Power’s Marketing & Brand Director, Michelle Spillane, highlighted her excitement for the new sponsorship contract, noting that the company had “hit the bullseye” with this collaboration. Spillane emphasized the tournament’s unique blend of sport and entertainment, which perfectly meshes with Paddy Power’s corporate identity.
She further added, “This tournament is the ultimate example of sport colliding with entertainment, a mix we at Paddy Power are naturally drawn towards.” Spillane believes that the partnership with the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace will be highly beneficial for Paddy Power.
Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) CEO Matt Porter recently welcomed Paddy Power as the new title sponsor of the 2017 World Darts Championship. Porter praised Paddy Power for its imaginative and entertaining sponsorship announcement. He commended the operator’s engagement with elite darts players, recognizing the excitement that Paddy Power’s participation will bring to the darts calendar’s flagship event.
Porter stated, “The World Darts Championship is the flagship event in our sport, and Paddy Power’s involvement will add extra excitement to an event which is already the highlight of the festive sporting period.”
