Ohio recorded a new benchmark in October as statewide sports wagering reached a level not seen since the first month of legal betting. The latest figures from regulators confirmed broad growth across online and retail operators during one of the most active sports periods of the year.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission reported a combined online and retail handle of $1,110,000,000 in October. The number represents the highest total since January 2023, when Ohio launched legal wagering and recorded a handle slightly above the $1,000,000,000 mark. October activity rose 25.7 percent year over year and climbed 17 percent from September.
A mix of the MLB postseason, a full NFL month, and regular season openings in the NBA and NHL produced sustained engagement across betting platforms. Operators collected $98,200,000 in gross revenue from an 8.7 percent win rate, generating a $22,000,000 month-over-month increase due to stronger margins and a larger overall handle.
Mobile operators reduced promotional credits by 17.5 percent, contributing to a more efficient revenue result from a $1,120,000,000 mobile handle. Online platforms generated $96,500,000 in gross revenue, the top monthly total of 2025 and the highest since late 2024.
Retail sportsbooks also posted gains with $1,700,000 in revenue from a $17,100,000 handle. Total taxable revenue reached $98,500,000, producing $19,700,000 in tax revenue for Ohio.
Most online sportsbooks reported increases in betting volume. Thirteen of fourteen operators recorded month-over-month growth in handle, though none reached a double-digit win rate.
FanDuel moved into the top position with $389,600,000 in wagers, up from $306,100,000 in September. Revenue totaled $34,900,000. DraftKings followed with $376,300,000 in wagers and $34,400,000 in revenue, posting a 9.1 percent hold compared with FanDuels 8.9 percent rate.
bet365 produced another strong showing with $81,600,000 in wagers, surpassing the $80,000,000 mark for the first time since March. BetMGM ended the month with $68,300,000 in handle and $5,500,000 in revenue, outpacing Fanatics Sportsbook by roughly $4,000,000.
Caesars generated $2,900,000 in revenue from a $33,600,000 handle, improving its win rate to more than 8.5 percent.
Hard Rock Bet and ESPN BET each crossed $30,000,000 in wagers for October. ESPN BET posted the highest win rate among online operators with a 9.6 percent hold. Prime Sportsbook exceeded $20,000,000 in handle but closed the month nearly $300,000 in the red.
