nderdog Relaunches Pick’em Champions Fantasy Games in Mississippi

Share

Daily fantasy players in Mississippi just got some big news. Underdog has relaunched its Champions pick’em product, giving fans a peer-to-peer DFS option right in time for football season. The operator had previously withdrawn all its pick’em contests from the state early last year but is now back with full approval from regulators.

Good to know

  • Underdog is the only licensed operator in Mississippi offering real-money pick’em DFS contests.
  • PrizePicks provides only a free pick’em game in the state.
  • DraftKings and FanDuel continue to stick with traditional draft fantasy formats.

In February 2024, Underdog pulled both its traditional and Champions pick’em contests from Mississippi after regulatory questions. The company had been active in the state since 2021 under a DFS license but chose to suspend operations.

Now, the relaunch of its peer-to-peer Champions pick’em marks a return to the Magnolia State. Fans once again have access to a format that lets them compete directly against one another, not just against the house.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission reviewed the product closely before granting the go-ahead. Stacie Stern, SVP of Government Affairs and Partnerships at Underdog, praised the process saying:

“Mississippi fans are going to love our Pick’Em Champions games, and we were able to launch in time for football season. The gaming commission applied a professional, thorough, and thoughtful process to ensure our product measured up to the state’s standards, and we look forward to continuing to work with the commission as a licensed operator in Mississippi.”

Competitive Landscape

Right now, Underdog stands alone as the only licensed provider of real-money pick’em DFS games in Mississippi. While PrizePicks continues to make its free version available, it doesn’t offer cash contests. FanDuel and DraftKings, the two biggest DFS names nationwide, only run standard draft fantasy competitions in the state.
