Investigation into Snooker Players Initiated by IBIA’s Monitoring Leads to Sanctions

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), renowned for its commitment to preserving sports integrity, has recently played a crucial role in the indictment of 10 professional snooker players from China. This judgement was reached by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) after the examination of comprehensive betting data shared by the IBIA and its members.

The Investigation

The IBIA scrutinized several 2022 snooker matches that were linked to suspicious betting activities. The matches under investigation involved sanctioned players (in bold) such as:

• Aaron Hill versus Zhao Jianbo during the Northern Ireland Open Qualifiers
• Bai Langning playing against Zhou Xintong at the British Open
• Chang Binyu and Jamie Jones competing at the British Open
• Yuan Sinjun against Jimmy White in the Northern Ireland Open Qualifiers
• Lu Ning facing Robert Milkins at the European Masters Qualifiers

The analysis of these matches contributed significantly to the launch of the initial WPBSA investigation.
