Indiana’s sports betting market showed strong year-over-year growth in June, with the monthly handle jumping past the $350 million mark. The state’s biggest operators once again led the charge, with Ameristar and Blue Chip Casinos accounting for a major chunk of total bets.
Good to know
Indiana’s total sports betting handle for June hit $351.1 million, an increase of more than $50 million compared to the same month last year. Most of that action came through mobile apps and online platforms, which have been legal in the state since 2019.
Ameristar Casino led all sportsbooks with $131.5 million in total wagers, while Blue Chip Casino came in second with $99.8 million. Together, the two accounted for over 65% of the state’s handle. Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg finished third at $33.6 million.
Taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) across all operators reached $45.3 million in June. Ameristar posted the highest AGR, bringing in nearly $16 million, closely followed by Blue Chip Casino with about $15.8 million.
From this total, Indiana collected nearly $4.3 million in taxes—a meaningful contribution to the state’s revenue pool.
Since legalizing sports betting in September 2019, Indiana has built one of the more active wagering markets in the country. Mobile betting is now available in 30 states, and retail sportsbooks are up and running in 38 states plus Washington D.C.
