In April, Indiana witnessed a robust betting handle totaling $393.9 million, marking a notable increase of 22.6% compared to the previous year’s figure of $321.4 million. However, this fell short by 21.4% compared to March’s impressive total of $500.8 million.
Once again, basketball emerged as the primary attraction for bettors in the state, with a total of $121.5 million wagered on the sport. Indiana’s rich basketball culture, fueled by NBA franchises like the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever, along with various college teams, continues to drive interest among enthusiasts and bettors alike.
In addition to basketball, significant sums were also placed on baseball, with $67.7 million in total wagers, and American football, with $2.9 million. Parlay betting saw substantial activity, totaling $116.8 million, while $84.8 million was wagered across other sports categories.
Taxable adjusted gross revenue for April reached $37.1 million, reflecting a noteworthy increase of 26.2% compared to the same period last year. However, this figure was slightly lower by 5.8% compared to March’s revenue of $39.4 million. Notably, total tax generated from sports betting in April amounted to $3.5 million.
With a combined handle of $129.1 million, FanDuel and Blue Chip Casino raked in $15.3 million in revenue in April, reclaiming the top rank according to operator performance. Notwithstanding their greater betting volumes of $145.7 million, DraftKings and Ameristar Casino trailed closely behind with $12.6 million in income.
Coming in third with $3.0 million in revenue on $31.7 million in sports bets, Belterra Casino held its position. An additional noteworthy collaboration that bolstered Indiana’s sports betting scene was that of Hollywood Lawrenceburg and ESPN Bet, French Lick Resort and Bet365, and Harrah’s Hoosier Park and Caesars.
