DRF and Horseshoe Indianapolis Bring AI Betting Tools to 2025 Racing Season

Affinity Interactive, through its Daily Racing Form (DRF) brand, is partnering with Horseshoe Indianapolis Racing & Casino to roll out new AI-powered handicapping tools for the 2025 racing season. The collaboration will introduce “A.I. Alan,” a virtual on-air handicapper driven by DRF’s proprietary artificial intelligence models. Alongside this launch, DRF will expand its data-driven analytics to offer racing fans more personalized insights throughout the meet. Known for its role in horse racing analytics since 1894, DRF continues to evolve under Affinity Interactive by combining data science and content to enhance wagering experiences.

Rich Rosa, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at DRF, said the track was the ideal location for unveiling the new technology.

Eric Halstrom, Vice President and GM of Racing at Horseshoe Indianapolis, expressed strong support for the collaboration:

I believe they will be so excited to have all of this added information right at their fingertips for every Thoroughbred race we run this year at Horseshoe Indianapolis.”

A key feature, A.I. Alan, will appear during daily simulcasts, offering auto-generated insights focused specifically on Horseshoe Indianapolis races. Halstrom explained that the virtual handicapper will deliver race-specific data every day:
“A.I. Alan is our new on-air virtual handicapper,” he said. “He will be featured daily with auto-generated facts from DRF’s new AI data system. This information is specifically tailored to our racing product. We expect to have A.I. Alan fully functional by early June and his presence on our simulcasting program will be the first in the industry powered by AI.”

To further highlight the collaboration, DRF will also serve as title sponsor of the Grade 3, $200,000 Indiana Oaks on July 5, part of Indiana Derby Day. Halstrom added that the sponsorship is expected to elevate the race’s exposure. “Having DRF as the title sponsor of the Oaks adds so much validity to the race. We feel their association with the Oaks will catapult exposure and accelerate the race into the next level of competition beginning in 2025.”
