An agreement between DraftKings and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) opens the door for DraftKings to launch its sportsbook in North Carolina. This is a calculated move on the part of DraftKings. With the required licensing and regulatory permits still pending, DraftKings is getting ready to launch in the Northern State.
Geographical restrictions do not apply to this partnership, since DraftKings has been granted exclusive status as NASCAR’s daily fantasy sports betting partner in both the US and Canada. In addition, DraftKings will get further sponsorship benefits inside the NASCAR ecosystem in addition to being an Authorized Gaming Operator of NASCAR.
DraftKings’ North American President, Matt Kalish, expressed excitement about the long-term partnership and the impending debut, saying, “DraftKings and NASCAR have engaged closely with one other over the years… We are excited about the next phase of our partnership and to provide North Carolina sports fans with our top mobile sportsbook.
With its impending opening, North Carolina will become the 27th state to license the DraftKings Sportsbook, which is a major milestone for the company. This growth comes after debuts that were well received in Ohio and Massachusetts. Notably, DraftKings has produced an astounding $22.5 million in November alone, surpassing industry leader FanDuel in Ohio. Moreover, on January 11, DraftKings is set to launch in Vermont.
As DraftKings prepares for its North Carolina debut, the firm is still facing legal issues in Massachusetts, where a class-action complaint alleging unfair business practices has been filed against it. The resolution of this legal dispute will surely affect DraftKings’ future course in the months to come.
NASCAR’s Managing Director, Joe Solosky, expressed excitement about the continued collaboration, stating, “DraftKings has a proven track record of enhancing the fan experience across sports. We are thrilled to continue working with DraftKings to deliver NASCAR fans more engagement opportunities and bring its leading mobile sportsbook to North Carolina.”
Thanks to this strategic relationship, DraftKings will be leading the sports betting industry into 2023 with an expanded reach and exclusive partnerships.
