Betfred Ends Operations in Nevada

Share

Betfred has officially ceased operations in Nevada, marking another step in the company’s retreat from the U.S. market. Pennsylvania is now the only state where Betfred remains active, reflecting a significant reduction in its U.S. footprint.

Back in September 2023, Betfred was operational in ten states across the country. However, by the end of 2024, the sportsbook had pulled out of most, including Virginia, Arizona, and Maryland. Its exit from Virginia occurred in October 2024 after less than two years of activity, while operations in Arizona ended in September. Earlier in June, the company also departed Maryland.

These closures have reshaped Betfred’s presence in the U.S., leaving its Pennsylvania operations as the company’s sole focus. The question now is whether Betfred will deepen its efforts in Pennsylvania or completely withdraw from the U.S. market.

The changes come after Kresimir Spajic took over as CEO of Betfred USA in September 2023. At the time, he expressed optimism about his new role, stating, “I’m truly excited to embark on this journey as the CEO of Betfred USA. I am looking forward to working with our exceptional domestic and global talent and partners. Together, we aim to build a sustainable business in the US by delivering unparalleled value and support to our customers while upholding a strong commitment to responsible gaming.”

Despite these ambitions, the company’s U.S. operations have significantly contracted under Spajic’s leadership. Pennsylvania’s status as the last standing market may indicate either a strategic pivot to focus on one state or the prelude to a complete exit from the country.
