Altenar has signed on as the title sponsor of the Gran Fondo Isle of Man, securing a three-year partnership that deepens its ties with the local sports community. The deal supports one of the Isle of Man’s most popular cycling events and further builds on Altenar’s existing involvement in regional endurance sports.

Good to know

  • Gran Fondo Isle of Man returns on July 19–20 with over 1,000 riders expected.
  • 2025 will be the final event in its current format.
  • Altenar also sponsors the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon.

Held in the scenic Manx countryside, the Gran Fondo Isle of Man attracts riders from around the globe. The 2025 edition will include four race options: the 85-mile Gran Fondo, the 39-mile Medio Fondo, the 20-mile Piccolo Fondo, and the Minisculo Fondo—a short family event hosted at Ramsey’s Mooragh Park.

The event has drawn more than 8,000 participants since it began and served as a qualifying round for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series between 2021 and 2024. It has also earned a place on Cycling Weekly’s list of “Top Ten Must-Do” events for three straight years.

With 2025 marking the final edition under its current format, Altenar’s support comes at a transitional moment. Organizers are expected to announce new plans for future events soon, alongside their new title sponsor.

Altenar CFO John Quaye said the decision to sponsor the Gran Fondo aligns with the company’s connection to the Isle of Man and its values. “The Isle of Man has cycling woven into its identity, and Altenar is proud to be part of a new chapter for this incredible event,” he said.

Quaye also noted the sponsorship fits naturally with Altenar’s location and mission. “With our headquarters at Cycle 360 House, and our existing sponsorship of the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon, this sponsorship is a natural fit—uniting endurance and community,” he said.

Event director Paul Phillips welcomed the partnership, calling it a strong show of support. “Having Altenar on board as our title sponsor is a huge vote of confidence in the event’s direction and our long-term vision,” he said.

He also emphasized plans to keep expanding the event’s reach. “We’re incredibly excited about what we can build together—not just for 2025, but for the evolution of mass participation cycling for all ages and abilities.”
