Three well-known female boxers—Raven Chapman, Ellie Scotney, and Nina Hughes—have signed a 12-month sponsorship deal with Kindred Group plc’s flagship brand, Unibet, in an innovative strategy. This strategic alliance is Kindred’s most comprehensive ambassador agreement with active female boxers in the UK and represents the company’s bold entry into the women’s boxing scene.
Raven Chapman, who is the reigning WBC International Champion, is under contract with Queensbury Promotions, run by Frank Warren. Cherneka Johnson was defeated by Ellie Scotney, a fighter in Shane McGuigan’s squad, to win the IBF World Super-Bantamweight Championship. The fearsome trio is completed by Nina Hughes, the current WBA Bantamweight world championship holder as of July 2022.
Sam Mead, General Manager of Kindred Group, expressed the company’s commitment to women’s boxing, recognizing the surging interest in the sport. The sponsorship deal with Chapman, Scotney, and Hughes surpasses any similar agreements in the UK, setting a new standard in terms of sponsorship length and value.
Unibet’s alignment with women’s boxing signifies a clear commitment to support and promote the sport. Raven Chapman, appreciating the collaboration, emphasized the shared ambitions between her and Unibet. She sees Unibet’s backing as instrumental in her career development.
The sponsorship concept used by Kindred Group goes beyond traditional alliances. Kindred has made investments in regional projects with an emphasis on making ethical and long-lasting contributions to sports organizations and communities. Among these is the #TeamTalk project, a mental health campaign supported by football greats Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. The program reflects Kindred’s larger dedication to community well-being by providing a secure environment for men to talk about mental health.
The 12-month agreement is evidence of Unibet’s commitment to the development of women’s boxing as a sport and the empowerment of female athletes, since they are at the forefront of supporting and promoting the sport. The sponsorship is consistent with Kindred Group’s main philosophy of fostering sustainable and ethical relationships with sports communities. Exciting things are in store for Chapman, Scotney, Hughes, and the Unibet brand in the upcoming year.
