Sportradar Strengthens Partnership with MLB for Advanced Player Scouting

Share

With a new multi-year deal, Sportradar has strengthened its partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB). Through the provision of advanced data insights from numerous amateur, collegiate, and professional leagues, this cooperation will improve MLB’s and its 30 teams’ player scouting skills.

The agreement incorporates information from partner leagues like MLB Develops events, the Appalachian League, and the MLB Draft League. The inclusion of high school and collegiate baseball gives MLB organizations a thorough platform for assessing talent.

Sportradar’s Chief Commercial Officer, Eduard Blonk, highlighted the transformative potential of the collaboration. “Sportradar’s cutting-edge technology, alongside our reputation as a trusted partner to leading US sports leagues, is driving the transformation of sports performance analysis,” he stated. He also expressed enthusiasm for helping MLB identify the next wave of talent through Synergy’s in-depth data and video services.

Building on Recent Developments

This agreement marks a significant milestone in Sportradar’s ongoing expansion in the sports technology space. In September, Sportradar entered the microbetting market and partnered with nVenue to deliver live betting markets via its Unified Odds Feed. These ventures demonstrate Sportradar’s versatility in supporting sports leagues and operators across different areas of the industry.

John D’Angelo, MLB’s SVP of Amateur and Medical Operations, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, saying, “We are excited to expand our relationship with Sportradar and ensure equal access to the Synergy video and data services for all 30 MLB clubs.” He also noted that the platform plays a critical role in both domestic and international scouting.

This announcement follows recent developments involving MLB, such as its settlement agreement with FanDuel and the league’s Players Union after legal disputes with DraftKings. The expanded partnership with Sportradar positions MLB to further leverage cutting-edge technology for talent development and scouting efficiency.

With this agreement, MLB continues its commitment to innovation, ensuring its clubs gain access to tools that optimize talent acquisition and player development strategies.
