Sportradar has become the only partner for audiovisual and betting data rights with CONMEBOL, which is an exciting development for football fans throughout the world. Sportradar has won the multi-year contract, giving them global rights to three of CONMEBOL’s prestigious football competitions: the Copa Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana, and the Copa Sudamericana, following a competitive bidding procedure. The deal is valid for the following four seasons.
José Astigarraga, the secretary-general of CONMEBOL, expressed happiness about the expanded collaboration with Sportradar, stating, “We are glad to strengthen our relationship with Sportradar. We are sure that the prestigious CONMEBOL club tournaments, with more than 60 years of history, will be a great showcase to be able to get closer to the true fans of South American football.”
Through its Intelligence and Investigations division, Sportradar has been providing CONMEBOL with compliance and risk management services. Checking senior members of the confederation and its member associations’ eligibility is one of these services. Sportradar CEO Carsten Koerl expressed his happiness at being chosen as the official partner, stating, “We are delighted that Sportradar has been selected as the official partner who can support the most historic club tournaments in South America. South American football has one of the most passionate fan bases in the world, and we look forward to working closely with the federation to support their engagement.”
