SIS Expands Racing Portfolio with King Khalid Racecourse in Ta’if

The vast horse racing portfolio of SIS (Sports Information Services), a top multi-content provider of live betting services around-the-clock, now includes racing at King Khalid Racecourse in Ta’if. This will help raise awareness of Saudi Arabian racing even further.

From July 4 through September 28, 2024, there will be races and simulcasts on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the Ta’if season. Since 1965, Ta’if—which sits 1,800 meters above sea level in the picturesque Hijaz Mountains—has been one of the main destinations for summer racing in the Middle East. It’s the perfect place for the racing season because of the temperate climate and sizable population.

The season includes 39 race days, featuring 273 Thoroughbred and 78 Purebred Arabian races. The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA) has increased the number of handicaps and prep races for major cups, offering a clear path for horses to advance through the ranks. The prize money has also seen a 24% increase from last season, with an average race purse of SAR104,378 (approx. US$27,800).

Key races include the Ta’if Arabian Derby on September 6th, the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Cup (Listed), and the King Faisal Cup (Listed) on September 20th for Purebred Arabians.

Strengthening Global Reach

The extended agreement with the JCSA bolsters SIS’s portfolio of over 36,000 annual horse races, including the Riyadh season at King Abdulaziz Racecourse. SIS distributes racing from both JCSA tracks to over 70 countries, highlighted by the US$20M Saudi Cup in February.

Michele Fischer, Vice President of SIS Content Services, stated, “The quality of racing in Saudi Arabia continues to improve each year and it is great that we are now able to provide our partners with content from King Khalid Racecourse in Ta’if, the only racecourse in the region that races throughout the summer months.

“The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia has worked tirelessly to produce an engaging racing calendar and we are sure the addition of racing from Ta’if will lead to even more interest in Saudi Arabian racing.”
