Penn Entertainment Successfully Upgrades Barstool Sportsbook Platform

With a successful migration of Barstool Sportsbook and Casino to its proprietary technology, Penn Entertainment has achieved its strategic goal of becoming technologically independent. This large-scale transition, after ending the partnership with Kambi, occurred during Major League Baseball’s (MLB) All-Star Break and was implemented across 16 states where Barstool operates, making it North America’s most expansive technology migration in the gaming sector so far.

This transformation signifies a major milestone for Penn, marking the culmination of its long-planned strategy to bring all gaming operations under its control. The purchase of theScore and the establishment of Penn Games Studios were key elements in this plan. TheScore, acquired while developing the platform and now Penn’s brand in Ontario, was the pioneer to transition to the new tech stack.

Penn Entertainment has unveiled the updated version of Barstool Sportsbook and Casino, packed with numerous enhancements. It features a more streamlined navigation system, improved personalisation, and expedited deposit and withdrawal processes.

Jay Snowden, Penn’s CEO and President, acclaimed this transition as a “milestone achievement”. He elaborated, “Having full control of our product and roadmap will lead to improved operational efficiency and the ability to quickly introduce new features, bespoke promotions and wagering markets.”

He went on to applaud the efforts of the Penn Interactive team for their relentless work towards a successful and timely migration, thereby strengthening the company’s competitive stance in the online gaming arena.
