With the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) awarding Oddin.gg a three-year sports betting license, the esports betting provider has seen a notable uptick in its U.S. activities. The Prague-based business has been expanding in North America, and obtaining this Ohio license is a significant step forward in its expansion plan.
With the Ohio license, Oddin.gg now holds four licenses across the U.S., including approvals from New Jersey, Colorado, and a temporary license from West Virginia. The company is also licensed in Ontario, further solidifying its North American expansion. Oddin.gg CEO Vlastimil Venclík commented, “Securing a license from the Ohio Casino Control Commission is a significant step in our North American journey. Ohio is poised to become one of the most dynamic betting markets in the US, and gaining this approval after meeting the state’s rigorous standards is a true reflection of our commitment to integrity and excellence both in Ohio and beyond.”
Ohio’s sports betting market, which launched on January 1, 2023, continues to see major changes. Numerous sportsbooks, including BetMGM, Caesars, FanDuel, and DraftKings, offer betting lines on esports, contributing to the state’s growing market. Oddin.gg’s entry into Ohio aligns with the exit of other players such as Betfred and Betway, creating new opportunities.
The Ohio expansion follows several key moves by Oddin.gg to establish its presence in the U.S. In July, the company obtained a temporary license from the West Virginia Lottery and partnered with Bill Pascrell III, a former Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey, to navigate U.S. regulations. Oddin.gg has also pioneered new avenues for esports betting, being the first to offer betting on the game Deadlock.
Venclík expressed optimism about Ohio’s market potential, stating, “Ohio’s market is gearing up to be something special, and we’re excited to help operators tap into that potential. As esports betting continues to evolve, Oddin.gg is ready to provide the expertise, technology, and support to make sure our partners succeed.”
Founded in 2018, Oddin.gg has partnered with major global brands like Betway and Dafabet to provide B2B esports betting services.
