Nebraska Moves Closer to Legalized Sports Betting

Share

Nebraska is one step closer to statewide legalized sports betting following recent legislative actions. A proposed constitutional amendment, LR3CA, has advanced through the General Affairs Committee. This proposal, introduced by Senator Eliot Bostar, received approval during a special legislative session convened by Governor Jim Pillen. The committee’s vote of five to two on day ten of the session marks a significant step forward for sports betting in the state.

Senator Bostar presented LR3CA and a related bill as part of a broader effort to cut property taxes and generate new revenue. According to local reports, if these proposals pass, Nebraskans could vote on legalizing online sports betting in the upcoming November election. Bostar highlighted the current situation in Nebraska, noting, “thousands of Nebraskans are already placing bets online, either by crossing state lines or through other methods, and that Nebraska should legalize and regulate those activities.”

New Developments in Nebraska’s Casino Industry

In related news, WarHorse Casino has recently celebrated the grand opening of its new venue in Omaha. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the debut of the casino, which now offers 800 slot machines, table games, sports betting, and simulcasting options. This new addition enhances Omaha’s gaming landscape and is expected to attract significant interest from local and visiting gamblers.

WarHorse Gaming, a division of Ho-Chunk, Inc., operates under the regulation of the Nebraska Gaming Commission. The company has also made strides in sports betting by signing an agreement with Kambi. This partnership led to the launch of Nebraska’s first sportsbook at WarHorse Casino Lincoln. Additionally, WarHorse Gaming plans to open another sportsbook at their Omaha location, expanding their footprint in the state’s sports betting market.
