Former Angels player David Fletcher faces potential investigation by Major League Baseball (MLB), according to an Associated Press report. MLB is expected to probe Fletcher “for gambling on sports with a bookmaker who also took bets from Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter.”
An anonymous source, familiar with the circumstances, shared this information with the Associated Press but remained anonymous “because they weren’t at liberty to discuss such impending matters.”
According to ESPN reports, Fletcher allegedly placed wagers with an illegal Southern California bookmaker named Mathew Bowyer. Fletcher reportedly bet on “several sports” excluding baseball.
MLB has yet to comment on the unfolding situation.
