Impressive sports betting and iGaming figures were reported by Michigan’s commercial and tribal operators in August, demonstrating a notable increase in revenue. The Michigan Gaming Control Board reports that the month’s total combined income was $224 million, a significant rise over the same period last year.
Comparing the August data to the same period in 2023, there is a significant increase of around $50 million. Sports betting contributed $27.4 million to the $196.6 million in gross receipts that the state of Michigan’s iGaming industry produced.
The state had an amazing handle of $280.1 million in sports betting, over $60 million more than the previous August. This increase shows that people in Michigan have a strong desire to wager on sports.
Michigan’s adjusted gross revenues (AGR) for online sports betting and iGaming combined were $193.2 million for the month of August. Internet sports betting added $16.3 million, while iGaming alone brought in $176.9 million.
Significant tax contributions from operators were also announced, coming to $37.7 million during the month. Taxes and fees from iGaming totaled $36.9 million, with internet sports betting contributing close to $0.8 million.
