Wonderlabz, a South African software development firm, has been fully acquired by LiveScore Group, a well-known international sports media corporation, according to an official announcement. This purchase strengthens LiveScore Group’s product development skills and increases its potential for future expansion into important areas, marking a major turning point in the company’s growth trajectory.
With a strong reputation for software development and an industry-leading Lithium PAM and back-office platform, Wonderlabz has made a name for itself. The organization is home to a group of well-known software developers and talent. Remarkably, Wonderlabz has been instrumental in the development of the app and online channels for the main brands of the LiveScore Group, namely LiveScore and LiveScore Bet.
LiveScore Group comprises three prominent brands, including LiveScore, a leading provider of real-time sports updates and streaming services worldwide, as well as award-winning sportsbooks LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet. The group has achieved record-breaking success through its innovative model that seamlessly integrates sports media and sports betting.
Wonderlabz was acquired by LiveScore Group just more than a year after the media and digital company Ringier AG, located in Switzerland, made a strategic investment of £50 million. In the year that followed, LiveScore Group achieved significant progress in its efforts to expand globally. Through this transaction, its current 25% ownership position in Wonderlabz will be expanded to 100%, greatly boosting the company’s internal capabilities and creating a new tech hub in a developing market.
Sam Sadi, CEO of LiveScore Group, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled to announce our acquisition of Wonderlabz, one of the most exciting businesses in the global software development space. We have nurtured our relationship with the exceptional team at Wonderlabz over several years, and their remarkable Lithium PAM platform has played a crucial role in the ongoing success of our industry-leading convergence strategy.”
Ben Johansen, CEO of the Wonderlabz group, added, “This is an incredibly exciting day for Wonderlabz as we officially become part of the innovative LiveScore Group family. Over the years, we have built a stellar business centered on top-tier software development talent, collaborating with industry leaders like LiveScore Group to create cutting-edge tech solutions. Joining LiveScore Group, one of the most forward-thinking and innovative businesses in the sports media and betting realms, is a significant step, and we look forward to continuing to play a key role in shaping the future.”
